Heartworm protection should be given monthly for life, I use heart guard...I use advantage for the fleas when I have a problem with them, but most of the time I don't so I don't use it.
I tried revolution one time when Bella was a pup and it didn't take care of the fleas she still had them, thats when I switched to the heartguard for heartworms and advantage for the fleas...works great.
