Do what you feel is right - Yorkies are very smart and sensitive - they will listen (maybe not at first). Darwin sits on the back of ours and last week I saw total fear in his eyes. I first heard panting, then I looked up to see him holding on to the back of the chesterfield for dear life - poor guy.
I don't mind him up there, but then again, ours isn't too new!
