I can't tell if you are seriously considering re-homing her or not. It would be really sad to miss out on ten years of joy because of four months of potty training.

As with all undesirable dog behavior, it's a balance between training and management. If she is not trained by the day you will have company over, you can either keep her confined in an xpen, find a dogsitter, or perhaps send her to daycare for the day.

If she was trained and now she is not, perhaps she uas a UTI? That's the first thing to consider if potty habits change suddenly.

Otherwise... I have a feeling you know what I'm going to say. If you cannot watch her with both eyes, she needs to be confined. Don't give her the chance to fail.
