My Taj used to do that a lot. If I let her chew a rawhide bone too long, stringy bits would get caught in her front teeth and she'd try to dislodge them with her tongue. She also chewed a bath mat and got the same result, strings in her teeth. I hope it's nothing more serious than that for your pup.
