I couldn't agree with you more!
Maybe it's just me and it's not always the case, and I'm sure there are exceptions, but IMO, pleading ignorance will only get you so far. At some point, you just have to use your brain and excercise plain ole common sense. (And I think that can be said for a wide variety of situations, not just where dogs are concerened.)
