Before we got our Yorkie, I talked to a few people. One person at work does agility with little dogs. I told her we wanted passive rather than agressive. She told me to turn the dog on his back and see how he reacted. We weren't to hold him down, just turn him over and see how much he resisted. So we chose DInky over his sister because he was obviously less fiesty than she was. For a little over a week I was really concerned because he was so timid and shy. But he's fine now.
I really don't know if it was necessary to turn him on his back to figure out that he was more passive than his sister. It was pretty obvious!
I also have a friend who has very nice calm dogs, and she never picks the frisky, playful pup; she always chooses the ones who hang back.
Good luck, and I bet you love the one you get to pieces! |
