American Kennel Club is the AKC, and ACA is the American Canine Association. The American Kennel Club is the only reputable registry in the United States, and after they cracked down on breeders, many left, and some commercial breeders opened their own registry. The ACA is one such registry and is backed by Petland a store that sells dogs from puppy mills. Here's some information on registries. Registries Remember, this doesn't mean that your dog is not a purebred, or that he's not as good as an AKC dog, these registries say more about the breeders and the conditions of their kennels, than it does the actual dogs.
