Something about that story seems fishy, they don't have to register their size. Many breeders don't register because they don't want the AKC to know how many litters they have a year. If you have above a certain number of litters, you are more likely to have an inspection. Others don't register because they don't really have breeding rights to their dogs. Their dogs are registered, but they bought them without breeding rights, and went ahead and breed them anyway. It's a good idea to register to help keep breeders honest. However, I'm really glad things worked out for you, Quincy sounds perfect!
