My girls were given a tatoo to show they had been spayed. My vet does this for all animals that are spayed/neuterd in his office.
"Should" the animal ever end up in a shelter or in someone else's care, this would prevent them from being unnecessarily put under anesthesia. It was done while they were under and although it *freaked* me out first, lol, I quickly became okay with it.
