My boys were not finished growing when they were neutered at 6-7 months. Based on their weight and build at 12 weeks of age, I believe they grew a little larger than they would have if they had been left intact. That said, neutering did not slow them down or make them bulk up.
The best way to tell if your dogs are the proper weight is to feel for their rib cages, look at their waists and their bellies. If you cannot feel their ribs or see a waistline, then they could be carrying some extra weight. If that is the case, you are correct to watch how much they eat and exercise. |
