I was a wreck when Zoe got spayed 3 weeks ago. I totally understand he is not "just a dog". It kills me when people say that.

I researched many vets and I found one I was really comfortable with. She insisted on the pre-anesthesia blood work, which really eased my mind. I read a lot of info and asked a lot of questions about what type of anesthesia they use and how she would be monitored. It made me feel better, but I was still a complete mess. The vet was sooooo nice and called me right before she started and as soon as she was finished. I think I wouldn't have done it if I didn't find her. Zoe did fabulous and she only weighs 3.5 pounds.

My advice is finding a vet you are completely comfortable with. For me, it meant asking for recommendations from friends and even putting an ad on craigslist for recommendations. I drove almost an hour, but it was 100 percent worth it.
