I was told on first meeting with a rheumatologist that "I was stoical", quote: RA people are very stoical, so please ask for pain meds as you need them. I was quite surprised and also insulted, for he knew nothing of me, and I am not my "disease".
I have no idea about the health system in the US but yes here in Canada you can eventually qualify for disability after jumping through the requisite hoops and tests, and doctor sign off's etc.
There are some good on line sites for persons with fibromyalgia. Some relief is found through aerobic exercise. Swimming is often cited as an excellent activity. Also talk to your regular doctor, about vitamins and supplements that will support the immune system.
Visualizations and meditation are other activities that have proven beneficial for this and other chronic conditions.
Oh yes also look at your Vitamin D, Calcium, Magnesium intake. Health Canada is in the process of upping the RDA for the above. |
I was on disability ( SSI) for years due to a mobility problem. I had to got to a judge and i got lucky according to my lawyer. The opposing counselor was new and would say the exact opposite of what she had already sd about me. I was taken off cause jim made too much money to keep getting cks and sd because I had not been getting them they took me off the program. I had not worked enough to get credits for the other kind of disability.
I take calcium and vitamin D due to osteoporosis (I have multiple current and past fractures). I will be doing more walking but I have a phobia about water so that is out. I looked at the symptoms online and now I know that many things I experience are caused by this including my very thin (balding really) hair. Thanks for the comments and suggestions. If you have anymore, pls share.
