yes i professionally groom. I don't use cool lube because it causes build up on the blades. oiling them before, during, and after use is better for them. plus i clean and oil them all at the end of the day. My blades stay sharper for longer and i don't have to get them sharpened as frequently as i used to before i started taking better care of them. I even throw them in an ultrasonic cleaner with H42 every now and then to really clean and sanitize them.
with the amount of dogs and size of dogs that i do every day i can't use the osters. They are just too heavy for me, especially when i have doodles and S.Poos to groom. plus i find that the andis excel is quieter then most and new puppies take to it very well. these clippers can get through a matted coat easier and with a longer blade then a standard 2 speed clipper. my boss sometimes uses my clippers on matted messes when her's can't get through a coat.
OH, LOL, you'll like this. the other day i was grooming a very large "SCW" and as i was doing his back pads he horse kicked my hand so hard, like an involuntary twitch, that my clippers flew 5 feet and hit the ground. that's never happened before so naturally i figured he broke them but nope, still good. i know someone else who drops his all the time and they are still going. lots of people use his clippers so they get a lot of abuse.
