He likes large dogs like the Lab/Husky in the neighborhood and is comfortable around him, so why did he act this way, I have no idea. The Golden Retriever was very friendly and a bit shy but my little guy is getting this way a lot with certain dogs. I haven't been walking him in the neighborhood lately for this reason and other reasons. Has this ever happened with you and your dogs~? Is there a reason for it, do you know~? Our agility teacher told me that he may be comfortable with the Lab/Husky in the neighborhood and not this new dog he met tonight. Any suggestions are appreciated. |
Was he leashed? Some dogs can be a little more offensive when leashed.
Our doberman is very wary of new dogs - she keeps her distance and runs away if they get too close. After a couple minutes she'll start to warm up to them and then she is all good. Maybe little Max just needs more time to warm up to new dogs, but I think continuing to socialize him in these situations will help.
I'm lucky that Lexi doesn't have any behavior problems, sometimes I worry that she is TOO friendly. The only thing is the fact she turns into a barking monster as soon as we hit the dog park. I think it's just the excitement, but she goes crazy. Ripping in circles, barking her head off - it's a little embarrassing for me, and I've been trying to curb it with no luck yet.
