Lye is added to water in the soaponification process, so, looking at it from that perspective, you are right. But, I don't consider that water, since the resultant reaction changes the water into CH20 and OCH2.
I think what I thought you meant was that I made soap and diluted it with water (since that's what the OP suggested).
