Just a brain storm but what if we use some double sided tape near the door? It is much more humane and a lot cheaper. I saw this on a program called "PetKeeping with Mark Morrone". He said to use double sided tape on your furniture or any other area you didn't want your pet to go. The pets don't like the sticky feeling of the tape and quickly learn to avoid the area. I think I may try this first before getting something that shocks the poor little guy.
