i am southern and do use HEY regularly....i also get from time to tome hey is for horses...but its never taken nor given as i have offended someone, its usually affectionate banter between me n my dad ..as of my age just about 30..i dont see WHY anyone on here should question my manners based on one word that was typed "hey"..of all the rude and nasty people on here..im being pointed out for Hey...really?
"I think the confusion lays with having all dogs mirochiped vs breeding dogs and having a kennel and showing. AKC has rules/regulations for those that breed and if rules are broken the penalties are pretty stiff." - I Agree |
Out of curiosity -- what have you bred? Do you cross-breed? (I saw you mentioned yorkie-poms.) Have you used other registeries or bred unregistered litters?
I live in the south too and "hey" is pretty common, but I think it is more of a casual, informal greeting among "buddies or some family" and not used when requesting information from an acknowleged expert in the field. I would not address a teacher, mentor or other professional with "hey." Living in the south, I am also proud of the manners most show. When people know me but not well, ask me questions or even greet me, it is normally as Miss Debra or Mrs. Debra. I use the same salutation when addressing my peers, those wiser,or those in a position of authority. It is just a sign of respect.
Here on the forums, calling someone by their member name or their actual name is good. I don't think you
meant it as a sign of disrespect but this could be a good learning situation. Since people are from all areas of the world, different generations, varied backgrounds and social realms, it is always a good idea to err on the side of caution to keep all feelings in consideration. I learn something new every day here too. I hope I never stop learning!
