Things are a bit tougher in AKC vs other registries. But, AKC doesn't always make you reputable or mean that you know how to breed. It guarantees nothing as far as the breeder. What it does guarantee is that your dog is purebred and at times that doesn't always ring true. As some have found loopholes around parentage and registering non AKC dogs with an AKC litter.
