I have 4 dogs all different breeds and all are wonderful..

... I have a 9 year old sheltie who is just fantastic, is great with any dog or cat we have brought in, was easy to train and depsite the high pitched barking that I have read that shelties can have, he doesnt.. however he does have a few of the nasty medical problems that can come along with the breed, like siezures (which came from a nasty bump to the head that is controlled by meds and Im comp. convinced that if he didnt knock is head he would be fine, the vet says otherwise) and he has a fatty blood condition that is controlled by a rx diet. His coat is a ton of care and is harder to mange than a yorkie. I have a 5 year old beagle, named abby.. she is crazy, loves everyone and is true to the hound breed. She was easy to train, but loves to knock over the garbage cans and she is a escape artist, but is trained to come when called. Beagles are wonderful family dogs, but I would suggest some pretty consistant training because it is a hunting breed and it will always have the instinct to do so. Lexee is my 4 pound, almost 3 year old spoiled rotten (thanks to the hubbster) toy poodle. She is a DIVA, hates all dogs over 20 pounds. She was very easy to train, as all poodles are, smart as a whip. She loves the kids and over all is a great little lap dog, she does have a tendency to be a little needy but not all poodles are that way. She isnt yappy, (some will tell you otherwise) and I plan on getting another one when the time permits me to do so.

They do come in bigger sizes..

Then their is my not so little 2 year old yorkie poodle mix Tucker.. he is a combo of both breeds and is just flat out stubborn and crazy, and extremely dedicated to ME...

...
Probably more than what you wanted, but I love to tell everyone about my animals..lol.. I have also considered cockers and have read quite abit about them. I have known a few people who have owned them and other the the "excited piddling" they can have and the ear infections they were good dogs. I had a maltese and he was just terrible..

.. and I wouldnt own another one, and I know that not all of them are like that, but just like anyone else you have one bad experience and you stay away.
As you know just do your research, maybe take a trip to the pound, take your time..
Good luck, I hope you find your new addition soon..
