I like the animal hospital classification advice. There are AVMA approved vets (American Veterinary Medical Association). If his gums are pale and sticky he is dehydrated and needs IV fluids immediately. I don't think anyone here is trying to alarm you just impress upon you how important it is to get a second opinion asap.
