The link that Beamer's mom provided is a good description. It's basically victorian era sci-fi, usually set in England, but also some wild west stuff too. Think time travel, ray guns, air ships, etc. Jules Verne, type stuff. Some movies were Will Smith in Wild Wild West, Tim Burton produced "9", Sky Captain with Angelina Jolie, Stardust (Robert Deniro was a air pirate captain), Sleepy Hollow was a bit steampunk too, with his instruments and goggles. When stuff was powered by steam instead of electricity.
I love steampunk bc there are really no rules. Its a time period that never really existed. So my "character" is an explorer. I attached little test tubes to my corset for "samples". A compass necklace so I know which way I'm going, the magnifying loupes on my glasses so I can closer inspect things, etc. And of course my laser gun in case I need to defend myself.
The cool thing about steampunk is incorporating it into 21st century technology. Like a steampunk computer. I wanna get one some day.
The 1st pic is the computer tower. How cool is that?
