I would get a covered litter box like the other member suggested. At least you could get to them before they get in to the box. To feed the kitten, you could put it up higher than the dogs could reach. Not at first, but when it get bigger it will be able to jump. You will be amazed at how high a cat can jump.

I know how it is to get attached. We have 5 dogs and 1 cat. Rosie is the only animal I actually picked out on my own. The cat was dumped off on us, one dog was being given away and she had not been taken care of, the other my husband picked out, one was on "death row" at the humane society so I brought him home, and finally the last is a baby of the the one my husband picked out and the one that had been neglected. No more babies for them thank goodness!! But I am attached to every one of them! Rosie is my baby but the rest are part of our lives too. I think you can make it work. And you will find out really quick what works and what does not. I am sure you will end up with a happy family.
