Please your a wonderful mom, stupidity is no excuse for their comments.
We are in health care field also, so it makes complete sense to me to extend the same health care standards to my dogs as I would/do on my human family. In the long run, we save more money on preventative health care for our furbabies then others who choose/unable not to for their own reasons.
They know at work I spoil my furbabies as I do my daughters and grandchildren no different and would not dare to call me crazy. They are envious really, I hear all the time I wish you were my mom!
Of course we also provide dental care for our furbabies too, along with booster car seats for their safety. Your not alone!
So please remember they are at the low end of the IQ bar of stupidity (not intelligence scale) and choose not to educate themselves. When you hear of them complaining of high vet cost due to lack of preventative care or doctor visits for their families, you can have a little smile inside saying I TOLD YOU SO by example.
As I said at the beginning they are jealous/envious of your dedication, love and caring behavior to your furbaby.
