I understand this is an old post but wanted to share a recent experience. Our beloved Piper was stolen from our yard (fenced). The people who had her kept her 5 days before calling us! They actually had the nerve to say they saw the jeweled collar and tags (yes tags with name and phone on them) so knew she was loved. She was so covered in burrs that it took my daughter and I an hour to get them out. Some of them were embedded in her skin, so we had to use a metal comb to get them far enough from her head to cut out
Her beautiful full coat is going to have to be shaved
She's lost so much weight we can feel her bones! To top it all off the people admitted getting her from our yard! They didn't admit to taking her from the fence, so maybe she escaped but that doesn't explain why they didn't contact us. I feel in my heart that the only reason we got her back was it was to much work to get her cleaned up and they couldn't take her to a vet or groomer without questions and groomers around her can't touch them without shot records. I'm still so mad that I'm shaking as I write this!
