I know this is different and my Eddie was very old at over 14, but when I took him in for his last round of shots he got very lethargic. He just stayed that way until I was afraid he had developed some kind of infection and took him to our vet.

He did already have some kidney issues ( I was cooking a special low protein diet for him) at his age and the vet did say that the vaccinations put a lot of stress on our dogs. The vet gave him antibiotics and a large shot of dexamethasone (steroids) and he was like a new dog for about 2 weeks, then he started coughing up blood on a Sunday morning and he was gone.

He was doing OK before the shots and it was obvious they took a toll on him. My husband kept telling me he didn't want to get this round, that he felt bad about doing it. But it's the law. What are we supposed to do?
