What if the puppies ended up with a genetic problem that wasn't apparent for months or years? There are issues that are WAY bigger than the little bit of money they lost.

You are preaching to the choir my friend. There was NO talking those two out of it and all ten puppies were healthy and the bitches were fine. I imagine they would have added to the reasons not to breed if they had experienced any of the other things you mentioned. They had to lower their prices too. The one commented on how much time they took up too. Geez!
