I'm glad they spayed their pups, but it is still dis-heartening that the only reason they decided not to breed again (or, not at all -- in the case of the one that was thinking of "breeding just once") was that it was so expensive and there was no money to be made!

What about the well-being of the bitches? What if they died? What if they lost puppies? What if the puppies ended up with bad homes? What if the puppies ended up with a genetic problem that wasn't apparent for months or years? There are issues that are WAY bigger than the little bit of money they lost.
