Paranoid about Zoe's spay next week I made Zoe's appointment to get spayed on Thursday. I am freaking out already! I just cant imagine what I would do if anything happened to her. She is almost 8 months old and weighs 3.3 pounds. She will have 2 baby teeth pulled also. And get a microchip. The vet is doing the pre-op blood work the morning of the surgery.
I have a couple questions:
1. What if she goes into heat this week before her appointment? I noticed her vulva is a tiny bit more swollen than usual this morning. But no signs of bleeding or anything. The vet said they can still go ahead with the appointment, and that they frequently spay during heat cycles. If she does happen to go into heat for the first time before Thursday, would you wait to spay her?
2. I have 3 days off next week, the day of her spay and the 2 following. Do you think that is enough time for her to feel well enough and not need constant supervision?
3. Do they shave her for the surgery? Or for an IV or something? I just want to know what to expect and I forgot to ask the vet.
4. Would a premie onsie fit her? I dont think she will tolerate even a soft cone. Do the onesies work for protecting her stitches?
Thanks so much! I dont know what I would do without YT! |
