Also Jesse is 28 months, I brought him home 2 months ago. He is not due rabies until 2012 but is due Parvo and Bordetello should I go ahead and get those shots for them?
It's confusing because everyone has different ideas/views. The AAHA vaccination schedule recommended for dogs is the puppy shots (8, 12 and 16 weeks, then rabies) and then one year boosters (when the pup turns 1 year old they will need the booster of DHPP and rabies). Then after the 1 year shots, it should be good for 3 years according to them. Most vets are following this protocol now, getting shots every 3 years for the rest of their lives rather than every year. However, more are beginning to see that vaccines aren't really necessary even every 3 years.

While my plan is to follow Dr. Jean Dodds protocol (meaning Jackson will never get shots again except for rabies every 3yrs as required by law), I am not totally sure what I will do just because I do travel a lot with Jackson so I don't ever want him to be considered not UTD on shots. Either way, I feel safer with every 3yrs then every year.

So, Bailey is 2 right?? The months thing confuses me!! LOL. If he had his DHPP and Rabies at 1 year old, he should NOT need them again for 3 more years but I don't know the legal requirements of rabies in Canada.
