Yep, our old dog, Guru (not a yorkie) used to do this. He would take a few kibbles in his mouth, walk over to the carpet, and eat the kibbles there. He would return to his bowl and repeat this until all the food was gone. I don't know why dogs do this, but it is a pretty common behavior. If you've ever watched wolves eat in the wild, they sometimes do something similar with pieces of their catch. It is not uncommon for a wolf to take a piece of the carcass and walk off with it.
