To me, it doesn't sound like the other dog tried to 'attack' Freddy but more "put him in his place." If dogs are being obnoxiously friendly, often times an older more 'mature' dog will say 'that's enough!' by giving them a growl, nip, etc. And since there was no blood or damage done (which a big dog could EASILY kill or badly injure a little dog), his intent was not to kill, but just teach a lesson. I am glad Freddy is okay and everyone learned from this experience! It's super important to read dogs body language, because I am also one of those people that lets Jackson go up to other dogs so long as the owner says it's okay. Jackson also LOVES all other dogs, and I love for him to be socialized, and sometimes I catch myself just allowing it to happen and maybe putting *too* much trust in other peoples dogs. |
