Have there been ANY changes at all in her life or surroundings? Anything from people, walks, toys, food, to her own place (create, bed, blanket, whatever it maybe).
Our two year old Star is very attached to my husband. Sometimes he goes away for work or to visit family for a few days or weeks at a time. When Star sees the suitcase she instantly gets sad. After he leaves and for the whole time he is gone she lays around and looks so depressed. I try to do little extra things that I know she loves to cheer her up. Bringing her for extra walks, she loves apples and oats so I fill a kong up for her, more play & cuddle time. In addition to extra walks, I will take her into our back yard and run her around or spend a lot of time playing with her. It seems to take her mind off of it for that time and then tires her out. So the rest of the night she cuddles and sleeps.
My inlaws have a lab who was create trained. They never realized how much he loved his create until they took it away after he no longer needed it for training reasons. He was so sad for weeks straight. They could not figure it out until doing some research and found that dogs love their own place. They gave it back to him and he was his normal happy self again.
