Please help. I rescued my yorkie (Sophie) in Feb of 2010. She came from a backyard breeder who kept her in a kennel all the time. I am new to yorkies and to the forum. She has turned out to be a great, healthy dog except for a few things. She will potty outside if I take her out every 2-3 hours when Im home or when im gone she will hold it up to 7 hrs so far. But when Im home she will poop on my chair or right in front of the door. I have put a bell at the door and ring it everytime I take her out but she still will not tell me when she has to go.
The other problem is that because she was kept in a kennel her first 7 months of life she is not social. She is great with me and my husband and 2 kids (8 & 13) but when other people come over she barks and carries on and jumps and nipps them and bits their ankles. Kids she will do the same and grab onto their shirts and not let go. I take her every where I can get away with it but it still hasnt help. In the stores and stuff she just shakes sometimes she gets so nervous she pees and poops. I want her to be friendly. I do not baby her and tell her no I do not pick her up. I tell the person she is barking at to just pick her up and when they do that she runs away in fear but always come back to do again. How can I socialize her and make her freiendly.
Please help these 2 things are really getting in my way of bonding with her.
Also any help with training for basic things like come and sit would be great to. |
