So Levi and I moved into an apartment from a house with a fenced-in yard to a third-floor apartment about a month ago. Levi is pretty well outdoor potty-trained, but for the past week or so I have seriously considered incorporating pee pads into our routine (which is something I said I would never do!)
Leashing up and walking down three flights of stairs many times per day is quite a different scenario than simply opening the back door and allowing Levi to go out in the yard. I'm also finding it more difficult to pick up on his potty signals. He has had a few pee accidents in the month or so we have lived here, which isn't a huge deal, but I hate to think I am not being accommodating enough to his potty needs.
How would I train him to even use the pee pads when he knows not to go indoors? Would it be confusing for him to continue going out sometimes and using the pee pads when I am at work/class? I am still working through all the logistics in my head. Any and all advice is welcome!
