I've read that if you do it in front of them they see that as your giving them attention for doing something bad....nontheless it's attention. I dont get it either...I clean it in front of Kelsey but she has a time out corner that she HATES to stay in so that is her punishment..and taking away all of her toys for about an hour. She "gets" it and usually slips up every now and then.
