They're not stupid. Their 3 pets have AKC registration and they've done all those tests - liver, blood, hypo- and hyperglycemia when they were little (I'm not TOTALLY up on the tests that should be performed and when but these people certainly are). I'm not talking about careless owners who don't love their pets. These guys have their own ROOM in the house, are immaculately groomed and one is being courted by a local high brow breeder (again, read: show dogs) to stud one of his girls. What they're interested in is continuing the bloodline with the one boy - his sire's passed and there weren't too many boys from that sire.
I mean, seriously, if you let your dog have puppies without a live-in vet and several consultations with AKC representatives, is it a crime? | This reply is like a 180 from the original post and the one after. Quote:

You did not present the situation as if they had the first clue as to what they were doing. You presented it as if they had pets (an oops litter) and weeee, this is fun, lets do it again. So why would you expect a different response?
Your stories of these people makes no sense. First you state it was an accident, that the dogs are pet quality, that they don't even know what they can do about registering them. Now you paint a different picture--that they are experienced breeders with impeccable bloodlines and are working with show breeders. If they did all the pre-breeding test, then they must have been planning on breeding....so how is this an "oops?" They are either pet lovers, or breeders. Interested in continuing a blood line, or going to get the dogs fixed after one more litter. So which one is it? Can't be both. | I think we were being played, JMO |
