Default Questions about first heat.

Hi Everyone,

Holly is 9 months old and was scheduled to get spayed today, but because of her bad skin allergies the vet wanted us to see a dermatologist first, so off to the derm we go today. Unfortunately, Holly started to go in heat on Sunday. All last week she was vomiting about every other day and we couldn't figure out why. Is it possible her body thought she was pregnant since she went into heat on Sunday? The vomiting has stopped, but all she's been doing since Sunday is hiding in her crate and sleeping. Her belly is a little bloated too, and sometimes she'll whine a little bit. Is there something I can do to make her feel comfortable? How long will she be in heat? If the derm gives us a go, then she can get spayed on Thursday.

Her skin is so flakey and red and raw that she'll bleed in a heartbeat (we keep shirts on her 24/7 for this reason), so we want to make sure it is safe for her to go under.

We have tried everything for her skin: DERMagic, Nutiva Raw Coconut Oil, cod liver oil, Temaril-P, food elimination diet with Blue Buffalo Duck and Sweet Potato, then another elimination diet with California Natural Lamb and Rice (she did well with this for a few weeks, but then started scratching away again), and we only give her a bath once a week with Earthbath hypoallergenic shampoo. Hopefully the derm can help us find a solution so she can get spayed, because I feel so bad that she is uncomfortable
