Taken from the Poppy website...it says...
Well who could have missed the story this week of Poppy the Patterdale Terrier! Thankfully there is a happy ending to the story, as her owner has been found. However, due to the intense interest in Poppy, and concerns about her care we felt it would be nice to tell everyone exactly what happened.
Mr Barton, Poppy's owner, had to return to Bristol because his father was very ill. Being a responsible dog owner he arranged for a French family in Toulouse to care for Poppy. He knew them only through relatives, but was assured that Poppy would be fine with them. As he knew he would have to be away for long periods of time, this was the most settling option for Poppy.
Unfortunately his father's illness took a turn for the worse and so his stay had to be extended. He did contact the French family, who assured him that Poppy was fine and happy! Last week, sadly Mr. Barton's father died and he stayed in Bristol for his funeral, before returning back to France on Friday.
He was totally oblivious to Poppy's plight until a friend of his daughters contacted his daughter and told her about the story they had read in The Sun newspaper. She phoned her dad, and this was the first he had heard of it.
We still don't know why the French family caring for Poppy didn't report her missing, as Mr. Barton has yet to speak to them. However, he is going down to the SPA in Toulouse to collect Poppy this week. So we will be posting a reunited photo on here for you as soon as we have it.
