usually i'd check the puppies nails first at about 5 days; all puppies nails seem to grow at different rates, so its just a case of checking them during the weighing each time -and if they seem too long, file them down a bit with a normal sandpaper type nail file... just be careful not to get too close to the quick- basically just taking the razor sharpness off them...
