My vet had me feeding him 1/3 cup per day, but I do not think that is enough. Now, he inhales his food like a pig and he used to be a rather dainty eater. But, he is not losing much weight. After almost 2 months of dieting he has lost about 1/2 lb. I have been reading here a lot about diet, as well as looking at various holistic dog care books. I think Ruggles should be getting about 1/2 per day of dry and 1 oz of canned per day. I have severly limited any treats. I don't want him to be hungry all the time, but I want him to lose more weight. He is 14 monthis old. Smarty is just the opposite and will walk away from food, but he only weighs 4 lbs. | I have found that exercise is the key to weight loss for small doggies.
