I know of two things you should request when you have it done. One is that they use the smallest trach tube and two is that the vet be the one to put it in and not a vet tech. That should help eliminate any unnecessary pushing and prodding that can cause more irritation than necessary. This isn't an outrageous request since your little one has had that problem.
