| Those of you with coughing babies [B] Biscuit just got over his cough and I am wanting to nueter him.He still coughs occasionally, but for those of you who have had or are having experience with chronic cough in Yorkies, are your babies spayed/neutered? Did it make there cough worse to go under with a trach tube? I am worried that his throat will be irritated and his cough will come back It took so long to go away!) If I wait too long to neuter him, how will he be different that if I do it soon?More marking? Thanks for any help |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I just had Cali at the vet for her cough because she went two whole days without coughing and then yesterday it was back and a little worse. The vet said that her lungs were clear and since er hadn't had much relief she wasn't going to put her back on antibiotics just to watch for an worsening and lethargy because that could be signs of a bacterial infection. I then mentioned that my pom who had been there a couple of weeks ago for a teeth cleaning was coughing worse since she was put under, she said that a day or two after they may cough from the irritation of the tube but a lot of times there coughs improve because it clearsd out som eof the gunk? I can't believe that 15 weeks later I am still dealing with this!

| Hmmm.... That is interesting to think it might help him a little.I can't belive his cough lasted as long as it did and he still coughs sometimes in the morning.I did try a homeopathic cough remedy from 1-800-petmeds and it along with a humidifier and vicks helped sooooo much. I really do want to get Biscuit neutered soon but was nervous from the cough. Thanks for your input Patti! |

| I know of two things you should request when you have it done. One is that they use the smallest trach tube and two is that the vet be the one to put it in and not a vet tech. That should help eliminate any unnecessary pushing and prodding that can cause more irritation than necessary. This isn't an outrageous request since your little one has had that problem.
