I lived near the number one trauma unit in the city and doctors were waiting for survivors but no one came. Everyone was running around for days posting pictures of loved ones that were missing. It was a horrible day for the country and for many families but as a whole New Yorkers banded together as a community that would do whatever it took to help one another- it made me proud and grateful to be a part of that . In remembrance of friends, family, policemen, firemen, Father Michael Judge and the one service dog who lost their lives that day- no matter how many years pass- WE WILL NEVER FORGET.
I was just a few blocks away too, I live in the Lower East side at the time and was on my way home. I was getting off the bus and saw the 2nd plane hit. Seeing on tv was devastating but watching out of my living room was sooo much worse. I remember what the streets were like in the days following, the pain that could be felt in the air. Its one of the reason I joined the military. WE WILL NEVER FORGET.
