  It's obviously totally a personal decision, but to me, there is nothing better than waking up to a dog curled up against you. Jackson is the cutest in the mornings and it's soo wonderful to wake up to cuddling with him. Unconditional love, and it makes my day 
always start off great and I always wake up with a smile.  I've always been raised with dogs in my bed though.  We got our first family dog, a Golden Retriever, when I was 4 and often nights it was me, my dad, my mom, and our Golden all in one bed, lol. This wasn't every night of course but I still have fond memories of lots of laughter at bed-time. Once I got a bit older, we got a German Shepherd and she was in my bed every night from my age of 10. If a dog simply just doesn't want to sleep in the bed, then that's different, don't force them.  But I don't see anything wrong with encouraging it.
