Also, I'm gonna shoot this question to Mardelin, since I'm sure she knows, when is the best time to do the blood work? 24 hours before surgery, a few days before, or right before? When Uni was sick last, her blood work took about 1/2 a day to get the results in, but I think they put a rush on it. Should i ask for blood work the day before, and if everything's ok, bring her back in for the surgery? |
Just sticking my "nose' on your post ... i go to an animal hospital and they have a lab right there, so blood work is always done just prior surgery on the same day , but if the facility needs to send the blood to a lab it will be better to have the results on hand before the surgery .
I know not every vet has a complete lab in their own practice, that can make things a little more complicated. For me it is a must to have a vet with complete facilities... but that can be dificult depending on the geographic area i guess.
