P.S. If it was a question as to whether or not it was specifically made soft or not (I'm not too sure from the phrasing), it was *supposed* to be that way, but it may have been defective within its own category. ^_^
The soft collars that Bo sells (Mom to Hot Rod) are great. They are soft but have poly boning in them that help keep it up, also the angle of the cone is slightly bigger so they don't feel like they have "blinders" on with the hard plastic one. Also the cone is slightly shorter in length so it doesn't drag on the ground or get caught in the carpet.
