The parti is considered a yorkie by the AKC and can be bred to other yorkies and the offspring can be registered AKC.
The Biewer was allowed to become a breed of it's own so if a Biewer is bred to a yorkie, the offspring are considered to be a mixed breed and cannot be registered AKC. |
The Biewers are not claiming to come from only yorkies and not many really believe that the parti colors come from only purebred yorkies either. The yorkie does not carry the gene for the spotted yorkie color pattern. It's not a naturally occuring color diviation such as born blue, born brown, etc. But now that the spotted yorkies have been bred back into the yorkie gene pool for so many generations I would guess that they will test pure using the Mars test. Of course with the popularity of the spotted yorkie there are those who are first generation crosses that are being sold as parti color yorkies. It's always buyer beware.
