I found a groomer that allows me to stay with Remy while he is being groomed. We show up at our appointment time, I wait with him and am right there while he is washed, trimmed and dried. When he is done, we leave. As a result he is never crated, I know exactly what is happening, and how he is being cut. Plus I've gotten to know the groomer really well and we chat while she's working with him.
Perhaps you can find a groomer that will allow you to stay with her??
