Just thought I'd mention what my vet told me when I was discussing food allergies with him (it was in reference to our other dog, a mini schnauzer, but don't think that makes a difference). He said with a food allergy, a dog typically bites/ chews at their hind quarters while dogs who chew at their feet (like mine does) typically are suffering from environmental allergies.
He also said that dogs could use many human allergy products, the ones I remember are Benadryl (but has to be administered 3x a day), Zyrtec (1/2 a tablet for my 15 lb. dog), and Tavis D but that's hard to find now in stores he said.
My schnauzer's eyes run, but I always attributed that more to the poodle in her than much else... |
