Personally, I had always heard of pumpkin being a laxative for dogs. Even in some of the doggy treat cookbooks I have it warns against overdoing it with the pumpkin treats as they may cause very soft stool. That's just what I've heard. It wouldn't have hurt for the vet to run a few tests just to make sure everything was ok with your baby anyway.
